iPhone specific review sites
andy on Dec 20th 2008
I’m starting to think about marketing, PR, and what not for my iPhone game, so I’m trying to come up with a list of iPhone specific sites that might be appropriate targets for press releases and/or advertising. Since I have a game, game specific iPhone sites are even better.
It also occurred to me that other developers might be gathering this information, so I thought I’d post what I’ve found so far here. I got the idea from MobileOrchard.
General iPhone Sites
- AppCraver
- 148Apps
- App afari
- Apple iPhone Apps
- iPhone Application List
- NativeiPhoneApps
- iPhone Apps UK
- apptism
- What’s on iPhone
- iPhone Alley
- got apps?
- iPhone Footprint
- Zym Blog
- RazorianFly
- iGames
- touchtip
- iPhone Journal
- iPhone in Canada
iPhone Game Specific Sites
Note that these sites do reviews, sell advertising, and/or have a place to submit an app for listing. I’m not including sites that do general iPhone reporting, but wouldn’t be appropriate for PR or advertising.
If you know of others, please feel free to leave links to them in the comments.

freshapps
I had very little traffic from this site even though I created an entry there for my app on Nov 4th.

iPhone Alley is good, so is “got apps?”, but my personal favorite is touchtip.

Also, http://www.ilounge.com/ – all about iPhone. I think they have a lot of traffic.

Lastly, http://www.applethoughts.com/
I know nothing about it, except that these are the same folks who do smartphonethoughts.com, pocketpcthoughts.com etc.

I’d just like to post to say thanks very much for the shout out (RazorianFly).
We really appreciate any and all recognition of the effort and work we put into the blog on a daily basis.
Thanks,

http://www.pda-247.com/iphone.shtml. This site covers all mobile but with a good area for the iPhone.

TUAW iPhone came to be in my top RSS sites years ago not just because of Jailbreaking but also because the top toolchain developers were reported on. It now is 99%(?) sanctioned App Store news. TUAW is an everything-Apple site, but offers both iPhone and “not iPhone” feeds. http://www.tuaw.com/category/iphone/
AppShopper is another great site. It’s the raw, green, raining “The Matrix” display of App Store activity: new apps, updates, pricing changes, etc. It was all I could do to keep up with the “everything” feed. I gave up after a week. http://appshopper.com/
Caveats: I read RSS titles, then summaries, so ads rarely pop up. When I do hit a site itself, Flash ads had become so prevalent that I use Safari AdBlock to stop their annoyance and bandwidth wasting.

Hi Andy,
thanks again for another great article. The links you posted will be of great help for me when trying to make my own app (http://www.jiyuka.com) known to the world! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for your game!

Great list! You forgot http://theportablegamer.com it’s a portable game specific website with a heavy slant towards the iPhone.
I also do a fully iPhone game focused podcast called the Touch of Gaming – http://touchofgaming.com/ — would love to hear from any developers out there!
Thanks,
