I can't believe all the love for Tortoise. It is a constant battle to keep this appalling piece of software working (okay it's free so I guess you get what you pay for!). If you try to do anything that is even slightly complicated you run the risk of corrupting your whole repository... as users at my site have done countless times... and then it is a case of wiping away all the history and starting again, and again, and again... I wouldn't recommend Tortoise to even my worst enemies!

My Lord! I echo the sentiments of the tortoise lovers. I switched from PC to Mac a little over a year ago. Prior to the switch, i had been using tortoise as my subversion client. It just flat out WORKED. Since I've been on the Mac, I've tried SC plugin, RapidSVN, svnX and now zigVersion. I'm continually disappointed. I hope that tortoise is developed for the Mac, it would make my life so much easier.

I have to support ZigVersion. Version control can be a hideous and arduous task. ZigVersion makes short work of the process with a beautiful interface. All of the key features are intuitive and easy to use, so there is no confusion as to how to start. I have found virtually every other subversion interface to be archaic and confusing to the point that I have completed huge projects with no version control at all rather than trying to make sense of an apparently senseless interface. I think ZigVersion is a welcome respite from an important, yet an often misunderstood process in software development. I highly recommend it.

Hi,
You should also check the <a href="http://www.syncrosvnclient.com" rel="nofollow">Syncro SVN Client </a>
It's a cross platform application, supporting all range of Subversion operations.
The license cost 59$ and can be test it 30-day for free.

> I can confirm that it is much easier to use than all the other Subversion clients.

It would be have been better of you had added "which I have tried". Even more better it would be, if you would have listed the other tested clients.

The price is the killer for my small company. Plus the lack of branching and tagging. I have been following the scplugin mailing list and there was some recent spark from the developers but it seem to have died down again. They couldn't get enough time to change the home page for the project. I tried downloading and compiling the app but it failed... might be because of my IntelMac.

Actually, there is a tortoise like svn client for mac, SCplugin: http://scplugin.tigris.org. However, it seems to be pretty much abandoned.

Mark: think about how lucky you are that your "first experience with any version control whatsoever" was with Subversion and not CVS :-)

What about branching and tagging? From the screenshot of the Action menu it appears that these important features are missing from ZigVersion.

My first experience with any version control whatsoever was at my (PC-based) job, where we all use Tortoise SVN. When I came home and decided to start working with Subversion on my Mac, I was really disappointed in all of the clients. I tried ZigVersion after getting a demo from the developers at WWDC, but it's definitely nowhere near as easy as Tortoise SVN.

So, yeah. I could go for a Mac version of Tortoise SVN too.
